The group said ‘au revoir’ to Paris and ’hallo’ to Amsterdam. Our train arrived in Amsterdam at 4:30, which gave us plenty of time to get settled into our hotel rooms at Max Brown. We were situated right in the heart of the museum district. The group had dinner at a local Dutch cafe and enjoyed classic Dutch cuisine such as pancakes, fries and mayo, and a tall glass of chocomel! We went to bed early to maximize our energy for the next day.
The next morning we enjoyed complimentary breakfast from our hotel. We dined on hagelslag—part of a nutritious Dutch breakfast. We ventured into the Amsterdam streets to visit the Anne Frank House. We learned about the atrocities during the holocaust which opened our eyes to contemporary issues related to discrimination. We reconvened later for a boat tour of Amsterdam’s beautiful canals and ended the night with dinner and singing at a local karaoke spot.
